Description
Tesofensine (research code NS2330) is a small molecule that stops neurons from clearing away three chemical messengers: dopamine, norepinephrine and serotonin. We supply it as 500 mcg capsules, 30 per bottle, Available analytical documentation is listed in the COA library.

What tesofensine is.
It often turns up in peptide lists, but tesofensine is not a peptide. It is a phenyltropane derivative of about 328 g/mol, far smaller than any peptide.
The Danish company NeuroSearch first developed it for Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease. Those trials kept showing changes in body weight, which turned research toward obesity. The FDA has not approved it.

What the research looks at.
Astrup and colleagues published a Phase 2 obesity trial in The Lancet in 2008. Later animal work looks at how appetite and energy balance are regulated, and at the hypothalamic signals behind them. Because it touches three monoamine systems, researchers also track cardiovascular effects such as heart rate and blood pressure.

Documentation.
Available analytical documentation is organized by compound, strength and format in the COA library. Do not treat a report as lot-specific unless a documented lot match is shown.
Handling.
The capsules come pre-measured in a sealed bottle, so there is nothing to reconstitute. Keep the bottle tightly closed somewhere cool and dry, away from heat, humidity and direct light.
Questions.
Is tesofensine a peptide?
No. It is a small molecule, listed with our peptides because it is used in the same metabolic research.
What does NS2330 mean?
The code NeuroSearch gave the compound during development.
Is tesofensine FDA approved?
No. It is sold for laboratory research only.
