Description
Thymosin Alpha-1 (TA1, Tα1) is a 28-amino-acid peptide, acetylated at its N-terminus, that was first found in thymus tissue. We supply it as a lyophilized powder in 5 mg and 10 mg vials, available analytical documentation is listed in the COA library.

What Thymosin Alpha-1 is.
Allan Goldstein’s group isolated TA1 in the 1970s from thymosin fraction 5, a mixture of peptides taken from the thymus. Its synthetic form carries the name thymalfasin. That form is approved in several countries outside the US; the FDA has not approved it.
The name invites confusion with TB-500, but the two are unrelated. TB-500 comes from thymosin beta-4, a different protein with a different job.

What the research looks at.
Laboratory work on TA1 centres on T-cell maturation and function, dendritic-cell activation through Toll-like receptors TLR2 and TLR9, and the balance of cytokines. Clinical studies outside the US have explored it in chronic hepatitis B and C, as a way to strengthen vaccine responses, and as an adjunct in oncology and sepsis research.

Documentation.
Available analytical documentation is organized by compound, strength and format in the COA library. Do not treat a report as lot-specific unless a documented lot match is shown.
Handling.
Until it is opened, store the vial cold and dry, shielded from light. Most labs mix it with bacteriostatic water and refrigerate the solution once it has been reconstituted.
Questions.
Is TA1 the same as TB-500?
No. TA1 is thymosin alpha-1, a 28-residue immune peptide. TB-500 is derived from thymosin beta-4, an unrelated protein involved in actin regulation.
What is thymalfasin?
Thymalfasin is the international nonproprietary name for synthetic Thymosin Alpha-1. The two names describe the same peptide.
Is Thymosin Alpha-1 FDA approved?
No. Some other countries have approved it, but this vial is sold for laboratory research only.
