Description
PT-141, or bremelanotide by its nonproprietary name, is a lab-made ring of seven amino acids that activates melanocortin receptors, MC4R in the brain in particular. We supply it in a 10 mg lyophilized vial labeled above 99% purity.
Chemical identity & storage

Storage: Keep sealed lyophilized material cold and protected from light. For long-term storage, keep at -20°C or below. After reconstitution, store at 2–8°C and avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
What PT-141 is.
Palatin Technologies developed PT-141 from Melanotan II. Both are built on one cyclic lactam ring, but PT-141 finishes in a free carboxylic acid and MT-II in an amide. That single change shifted research interest from skin pigmentation to melanocortin signalling in the brain.
In 2019 the FDA approved an injectable bremelanotide product for a single indication. This vial is research material, not that medicine.

What the research looks at.
PT-141 studies look at melanocortin-4 receptor pathways in the hypothalamus that shape motivation and arousal-related behaviour, at separating those central effects from MC1R-driven pigmentation, and at cardiovascular responses to melanocortin activation, including the short-lived blood-pressure changes reported in clinical studies.
Vial or spray.
For a ready-to-use liquid, see the PT-141 liquid spray (30 mg per 30 mL).
Documentation.
Available analytical documentation is organized by compound, strength and format in the COA library. Do not treat a report as lot-specific unless a documented lot match is shown.
Handling.
Until it is opened, store the vial cold and dry, shielded from light. Most labs mix it with bacteriostatic water and refrigerate the solution once it has been reconstituted.
Questions.
Is PT-141 the same as bremelanotide?
Yes. PT-141 was the development code; bremelanotide is the official name.
Should I choose the vial or the spray?
The peptide is the same. The vial is 10 mg of lyophilized powder to reconstitute; the spray is 30 mg already dissolved in 30 mL.
How does PT-141 differ from Melanotan II?
They share a ring structure, but PT-141 has a free acid at the end rather than an amide, and research on it focuses on the brain rather than on pigmentation.
